Just stumbled upon a pic of the Denso JGTC Supra`s engine..

This is the 3S-GTE in the Denso Supra . They used to run the 2.2L crankshaft , but relaibilty , free-revs and slightly more boost saw it and the whole field in JTCC go back to 2.0L .

Says something about all the hype with stroker motors . There isnt much info on these engines , except that they are fully prepped and TRD backed in Japan .

TRD have put in more time to the 3S , than probably any other engine in their race programes .

They give out the common specs , but nothing too technical . Note the smaller inlet piping to the plenum , this is probably due to the restrictor they use and no need for a larger intake tube while keeping good velocities .

Nice find, now all you need to do is find the engine on Yahoo auctions http://www.mkivsupra.co.uk/iB_html/n...ns/biggrin.gif

It's not actually a 3S though...it's VERY similar looking but they did something trick with the cooling systems and had independant cooling for the head and block. I can't remember what it is but CW knows, and has posted the answer.

However, last year they used a 3UZ-FE V8 stroked to 5.2L but with small restrictors, this year they are down to 4.5 or so to take advantage of bigger restrictors. To get the championship back off of Nissan.

*********EDIT**********
Found this from CW.

The jap GT championship regs are extremely complex, but basically the car is more competitive with the lighter engine and reduced fuel consumption. They use the 503E engine, it LOOKS like a 3SGTE, but is in fact radically different and shares very very few parts. For example the engine runs 2 water cooling systems, the head and block being divorced, coolant wise, this is to help avoild hot spots in the ports and combustion chambers. it runs lots of external coolant pipes to do this and is nicknamed Medusa.

It's a bit long in the tooth now, but still a good engine when run on modern management. In GTP racing Toyota were seeing 1000 BHP in qualifying trim, 800 in race spec. The engine in the pics posted isn't a 503E though.
