Then at 50k came rebuild No.2 when summink went wrong with his reconditioned turbos and scored-up the Rotor housings, there was a rebuild No.3 at some point but i can't remember why that was all i know is his car did the rounds with the handful of Rotory Specialists out there all of which seemed to slag off the other saying the other didn't know enough about Rotorys.
3 rebuilds! that is some seriously expensive bad luck!! It is generally accepted that somewhere between 40 & 60k miles (depending on driving style & maintenance) the rotory will need a rebuild & providing its done properly it should be good for another 40 to 60 but it only takes 1 little problem & it needs stripping down. Given the compression readings on mine it must have been rebuilt over 20k miles ago but its till got a good 30k left if its looked after properly.
You can actually get a very good manual & video on rebuilding rotorys but i wouldnt even think about trying it.
