Question Exhaust Questions

I've now got a decat pipe for my 1st cat so I'm planning on getting a few other bits to allow me to fit it.

It raises a couple of questions:

1. What exhaust gaskets do I need when fitting this? Does anyone have a part no.?

2. What restrictor ring should I go for? 1.1 or 1.2? Where's the best place to get one?

3. What is a downpipe? Is that the same as the decat pipe I've got?

1. No gasket req.
2. id also say CW. Never heard of anyone else selling them. I think with a 1.1 RR, you can then up the boost with a BC if required.
3. A down pipe is the decat pipe which replaces the first cat, straight off the turbos.

The bolts on the turbo / CAT joint are a nightmare! i gave up and took mine into my local exhaust fitters. I just couldnt get them off!

1. That interesting as I had a conversation with Martin F at the weekend and he said he had some exhaust gaskets kicking around. This is my decat pipe, click here.
2. I know that CW does a 1.1Bar RR, and I think that Envy do a 1.2Bar as well.
3. Excellent. So I do have a downpipe. It's just that the US sites tend to refer to the 1st decat pipe as the downpipe and I was wondering what the difference was.

You can get a gun based sealant instead of a gasket, worth smearing a bit of it about to get a good seal.

Restrictor Rings arent a science - ive got a 1.1b installed, and quite often get 1.2 and 1.3 on the peak hold. Whifbitz, CW, Ency all do em

When my double decat was installed i didnt use any gaskets. Just cleaned the meeting faces of with some fine sand paper. Then again, there could be a gasket between CAT 1 & CAT 2?

It's not strictly necessary to use a gasket, but guessing that the mating surfaces between CAT 1 and CAT2 are just a normal oval type then i have gasket that would probably fit. Use paste at the other end where CAT1 goes onto the end of the turbos as it's not a regular shape.

Exhaust Assembly Paste.

The larger Halfrauds sell it, look around the area where they do exhaust hangers, gaskets etc.
