Default Abs Not Working????? Help!!!!

Hi lads,
since i got my car the abs hasnt worked and either does the t/c.
There is no light coming on at all in dash so it could be that some one took out the bulb.
I checked the fuse box and noticed that there is 2 fuses for ABS, but i only seem to be using 1, is this correct????
I have checked and there is power at the fuse, but i un pluged the 2 sockets at abs pump and there was no current at any wire, is this correct????
The pump has never made a noise when you turn on ignition, is there a relay some where im missing???
It seems to me that abs system isnt powering up, would after market ecu afect abs or is it on a different ecu??
The t/c works fine on first startup until you get moving over about 20mph and then t/c off amber light flashes
Car is jspec 94 TT manual

Im sure ive seen this somewhere before. Try a quick search, it may be the speed sensor fault which crops up every now and again. IIRC its a fault code 42.

I never hear any pump etc when starting the car up, but i have felt the ABS kick in a few times in the wet under relatively heavy breaking. Have you never had the ABS come on?

This is a telling sign and IIRC it is indication of an ABS fault, ie. car knows you are moving but is not receiving ABS pulses.

Also I believe you are onto something with the missing fuses. It may be worth replacing the fuse but my concern is somebody may have removed it for a good reason. Because of the amount of mods on your car it's hard to be 100% sure what may have been done and for what reason.

Hi lads, well as i suspected the bulb was removed out of ABS light, so now have bulb in it and when you turn on ignition the light comes on and stays on permanently after start up, havent drove yet with bulb in so dont know if it flashes or not but at tick over it is on....

On the fuse front i took the fuse box up and cant see a wire going to that 2nd ABS fuse holder, done a quick search and there was a guy having ABS probs with i beleive it was a VVTI model and he had noticed that he had 2 places for ABS fuses but only using one..

I have never felt the ABS working, it has defo never pumped when turn on ignition first time, which i think all ABS systems do??? Stand corrected if not.

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.

Speed sensors are on the gearbox and are different to the ones on the hubs. There is a way of pulling up ABS fault codes, I will try to find out which terminals you need to short later on.

Oh right.. stupid me.. every forum you go into has different ways of short'n sentences,,
That be great Martin, have checked other posts but cant get a link to ABS fault diagnostics or codes..

When i do find out and cross the proper terminals, is it the ABS light that will flash or the Engine check light?????

I cant give advice on the ABS except that i had the same problem. Mine was something to do with my alarm. i could sort if out in the short/ medium term bu dissconnecting the battery. waiting 5 - 10 mins then re -connecting it.. But do you really want traction control? from my experience it was more of a danger than a help. I actually had the butterfly removed from mine and the electronics dissconected. Since then i have never had any of the 'nasty scares' when pulling out at a roundabout etc and lose all power just as a lorry is coming!
