Default Suspension

Hi Peeps

I need some help with the suspension.

I have a Jspec NA and I read somewhere that the suspension lags under hard accelaration etc.

I have fitted 265/40/18's on the rear and these catch the arches on bumps and corners.

I don't really want to lower the car as I think the tyres fill the arches nicely as it is. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening. I was thinking along the lines of trying to fit TT shocks/springs. will these fit my car?

Alternatively, as the suspension is potentially 14 years old, will it be better to just buy new springs/shocks?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Kam

Firstly, do you know what the offset is of the wheels. This is probably why the tyres are catching. I was running 275's on the OEM wheels without any issues at all.

I'm not sure what the off set is, i'll check on the weekend. Aren't the OEM wheels only 16 or 17"?

True mine are 17's.
The offset on the OEM wheels are +50. For every number less than +50, the wheel and tire will become 1mm further from the hub, thus 1mm closer to the arch. If the offset is say +35, then it is 15mm closer to the arch than the standard wheel.
If you were running the same size wheel as you are now with an ET of +50 then I very much doubt they would rub.

i had the same problem i had KYB shock on the rear and standard shocks on the front with some unknown lowered spring i ended up changing the whole lot to a set of TOYOTA BILSTEINS and a set of TANABE SUSTEC GF210 SPRINGS got from QSD jap breakers, sit's a little high on the rear now but the drive is a whole lot better and not to near the arch. do you have the standard set up i guessing not if the wheels rub the arch?

I honestly don't know, I'm hoping to take the car to a garage and get it on a ramp so that I can check it over on the weekend. I'll let you know once I have I suppose.
