Default Supra sitting too low

Hi again lads, i recently bought back into the supra scene again, got the car from a mate who was stuck for cash so got her at a price i couldnt leave behind.. she 95 jap tt 6spd..
My problem is little is known about the car, it has whats ment to be a TRIAL body kit, my problem is its way too low, i can barely squeez my foot under front bumper, even the skirts look low...
looked at the shocks and they an orangey colour TOYOTA BILSTEIN, and the springs look standard to me aswell so i thought it was the kit was toooo low, however there is 17" rims on her and she seems to be sitting down on the front a bit, the tyre will scrub the lip of wing when it dips on the road... my last one had 18's and never done this, fronts are 215 wide... Has it been lowerd???? any measurements i can check to see??? i have to rise it a bit suggestions appreciated

It's the springs which determine the ride height not the shocks, I'm guessing your car has very low springs which combined with a low/deep body kit is causing your problems.

You need to get a suspension specialist to look at the car for you and find out for certain if is indeed the springs which are making the car sit that low, if that's the case then you can get them changed for something more suitable.

One other thing, 215 wide tyres are too narrow, I believe the correct width should be 225 if they are standard wheels, what size are the rears out of interest?

Best of luck and keep us posted as to how you get on.

hey Barney
there not the standard wheel, there mebt to be a Trial Rim, the rear only has 225s on them, thats due to the lack of funds that my mate was suffering, they are squeezed onto the rear rims, rear rims have a deep sish on them.. again not much info is known on car, so i dont know the width of the rim, i was suprised to see the 17 rub at front.. wud that point towards it being lowerd? i may try to get some pictures up of it, that mite help.. trust me there is no one that will be able to tell me in Ireland what springs i hav, im afraid it will be trial and error, and i want as little trial as possible

My thoughts would be the springs need changing, a body kit would bring the car lower to the ground but it's the height the car is sitting at that sounds the issue, from what you say the car has been lowered too much and that is the area I would advise looking at.

The tyres are not the correct sizes but I suspect if you change them to the correct sizes you would get more rubbing problems.

Is there any way you could contact the previous owners to find out what has been fitted?

It's not un-common for cars to come from Japan with stupidly low and hard suspension. It may be that this car was shipped over this way.

Definitely sounds like the springs are too low.

IT was a girl that was the first owner,
and she knows nothing only it was white and had no room for a new baby, the mate i got it off knows nothing either ony its white and he had more chance of making a baby when he seen in it
Its really a pity, the car is nicest and tighest i ever drove, he had to take skirts and bumper off it to go through our mot equiv, and it flew it...
the tyre height is only 45 on front,
and i am starting to think that its either offset of front wheels or spacers that are causing the rub at front, its the side of tyre hitting where wing is rolled in,
its possible that these could be standard springs as its lovely to drive and that kit is just too dam low....
trying to get pics on photo bucket and cant for some reason, she needs a bit of tidying as skirts and bumper were off and ur man threw it back together.. ive a bit of painting planned, love the bonnet but its not in great shape so may get bak to standard, and wheels need refurb

remember she still needs a bit of general tidying, kit wise.. maybe a different front bumper might not be as low, wheels refurbd or replaced.. kinda like the old school luk of the 3 spokes
