I believe those springs are aftermarket, as they are progressive wound, rather than linear like the stock ones.
As Gambit says, your tyre sizes are not good and you effectively have less grip than a stock car. Get them changed sooner rather than later. (good opportunity to ditch the tri-spokes )

Oh well, at least I was half right.
ps. What's with your rear wiper? When stationary it should point up towards the roof.

i really baffled by it, dont know what steps to take to sort it,
the springs do luck that they are on car along time, and are a black colour, however mine look to have 3 or 4 close coils at top of shock where as the ones in Martins picture dont??? are the springs all the same on supras whether the shocks are Bilsteins or not etc etc? Everyone seems to want to ditch the 3 spokes.... i kinda like em. just due to the era of car and those rims were the ones to have back then.old skool.. they are Trial aswell and kit is an original aswell, dont know how the front bumper is sticking the bangs its getting... i would think that everything is on car since new... i know it looks bit tatty, but it is as tight as a ducks arse (and thats water tight) not a rattle out of it, I was thinking of going to 18s but even do thats 1 inch more rim than what i have, would that not mean only 0.5 of an inch of height rise on car??? I posted on another section about kit.. are the trial kit an exceptionaly low kit?? I may measure that 2mro Gambit Oh and thanks for the your time lads Last edited by ZANDER; 30th September 2009 at 10:09 PM. |

RITE GAMBIT, i couldnt wait, went out and measured the wheel, so between holding the torch, tape, and it being after 11pm, i reckon mine are around 24 inches.. they are new tyres so full thread..
The guy i got car off had taken it as a p/x from a girl that was first owner in country... it hadnt been driven much, think maybe due to its height, u wudnt fit standard scissor jack under skirt.. anyway the guy had very little money to spend and needed tyres to go through our mot equivelant so he skimped on the rubber, but as i said she needs a few bits but is a un polished jem, not dogged or abused and a good starting point. FLEW THE TEST FIRST TIME. was thinking of changing front bumper to Do luck copy on Ebay, see wud it be not as low bumper... What are the standard size of tyres on them? |

Don't bother messing around with the kit, If Martin's convinced your springs aren't stock And we know for sure your tyres are poop, that's your starting point.
I'd be interested to see if you could get full size wheels and tyres on your car with that suspension, as your pictures look as if it's close at the moment. Have a look on .net(the dark side) for your springs, there's always someone stripping a car on there. Did you manage to find out what your wheel width is 17/? I think it's stamped on the rim by the valve, going by the picture. |

was there a couple of different specs of suspension on them, i thought my last one had black shocks with TRD wrote on them, these now are a yellow orange colour with BLISTEIN wrote onh them... is there a certain spring i need to get? are non turbo the same spring?
Didnt look at the wheel width, but there is a fairly big spacer on fronts and rear, defo over 1 inch tick, thats why fronts fowl the arch lip.. The rear wiper is fooked GAMBIT thats why its like that... my list of 2nd hand wants are... rear wiper,.. rear blind...electric ariel... the rubber that is between bumper and bonnet... would love a Uk bonnet. and UK leather seats and brakes.. can you tell me what was the scoop ment to cool on UK cars? |

There's a snorkel that collects the air on the under side and directs it towards the back of the manifold.
See here. http://www.mkivsupraownersclub.com/f...snorkel&page=7 The yellow shocks are not standard m8 I'd guess they were changed with the springs. If your car isn't running a wide body kit there is no reason for having spacers......... Except, the wheels are the wrong size for the car. Looking at the way the tyre looks like it is stretched onto the wheel and the fact that your running 215's I'd bet those are 17/7 at would be better on an mr2. I don't know if NA suspension is different to TT.... I wouldn't think so. Does your aerial go half way up then make a terrible grinding noise then stop? http://www.mkivsupraownersclub.com/f...ghlight=aerial |

Yellow Bilsteins were an option on Jap spec cars. Standard shocks are normally black Tokico's I believe.
TRD shocks are normally grey in colour. Turbo springs are a different spec to non-turbo ones, due to the weight difference of the cars. If I was you i'd certainly be spending some money on getting the correct wheels on the car and most likely changing the springs. A good option which is not too expensive would be some stock 17" wheels. They'd look better than the tri-spokes as well
