Has anyone tried fitting one of these so a MKIV tt ? It says you need 2 of them for anything over 2.5 liter. Everyone seems to be really happy with it. What do you guys think of it?

If you want a vacuum leak just punch a hole in one of the hoses, no need to spend money on this rubbish

As with all these wonderful gadgets.....if they work that well why aren't they fitted as standard by all the major car manufacturers.

I was also interested by these Ecotek valves when I first heard about them... at the time I decided to dig up anything I could find on the internet and came across mixed information, apart from the following:

It seems that pre 93/92 cars that ran with carburettors will definately benefit from these valves..... but when it comes to cars with O2 sensors and fuelling controlled by the ECU these valves can actually cause more problems with both performance and efficiency.

Although, I would like to see what would happen if you did fit an Ecotek vavle.....

I was surfing the net and found this, reckons it's better than the ecotek - I'm not convinced with either of them

I've not fitted one to a Supra but did fit one to my other car (a Mki MR2).

Was not impressed.

The exhaust manifold cracked a few weeks after fitting it and further investigation revealed that this can happen on the MR2's due to the mixture being too lean.

Also the horrible farty noises that it made on deceleration were not right for a sports car.

I would strongly recommend not fitting one (or two) to a Supra.

I would suggest that any performance increase after fitment is a result of resetting the ECU on a Supra.

Personally I don't think that review counts for anything if you take into account the following observations and ramblings:

quote

First impressions on starting off are surprisingly favourable, the engine does seem to breathe better, easier, if you like. "Though this could be a psychological factor"

quote

But its not quite the ?amazing? difference Ecotek claim, and indeed others have claimed before.

quote

After using the Ecotek for around two weeks, the benefits are still very much there, even the fuel consumption has decreased, though admittedly only marginally. The Supra is a thirsty car anyway ? I rarely manage above 23 mpg ? but it appears to be providing me a regular 20 or so extra miles per thankful.

I found an article by some serious type dude about these devices. It was many pages long and took some digesting. Be prepared for a 15-20 minute read.

http://www.fuelsaving.info/ecotek.htm

Read that as he explains all about these devices.

You will then not buy one
