I've done the thing where you start the car while holding 2 buttons in and a button flashes for a code, My button that flashed was for normal.
Does the climate control use the same water temp sensor as the instrument cluster water temp gauge? |

Nope it uses the same water temp sensor as the ECU.

That would be the one in the bottom of the rad?
....This still wouldn't explain why my temperature gauge in the cluster dropped off when the engine was running and sat in traffic. It certainly wasn't the viscous fan. |

It's probably worth checking the connection to it, but you really do have a weird set of symptoms. I'm a bit stumped !

I think the car thinks it's warmer inside than it actually is, so actual temp is like 18 I set it for 23 but car thinks it's already 25. This is how it looks by the way the temp fan and direction system reacts.
But this still doesn't explain the temp gauge dropping off that one time... |
