I'd second Matt's recommendation on the Falken's Barney. After he put his on I bought a pair for the rear of my car and they've been great in all weathers and seem to be wearing well too.
Having said that if I could have afforded it I would have matched the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's which are on the front of my car as they have been astounding (I'd expect it for the price but even so they are brilliant!). They grip in any weather and have never once threatened to let go even when pushing really hard through the twisties. If you want to splash out on a proper top-end tyre then these are the ones to go for. I've always been advised to get eatra load tyres - not sure why CW would advise against it but would be interested to know (perhaps he feels it strengthens the sidewall to a point where there is no give and a tyre will either grip or let go completely with no warning. One thing I would advise against is a set of Dunlop SP's Barn. Once they're even slightly worn I found them to be a nightmare in the wet (as in complete and sudden loss of any form of grip) and not much better in the dry and that was in a 130bhp Pug 205, I'd hate to think how dangerous they'd be on a 300+ bhp rear wheel drive car like the Supra. |

T1-R's 235 40 18 are £115.10 each and no carriage cost on Camskill
<< not in trouble, but I have to remove the link >> Hope I'm not going to get in trouble for advertising. I've bought from here before phoned up, they checked the stock whilst I was on the phone and had them with me the next day. Just leaves you to fit them.

Ive lost count of the differant makes of tyre ive had on my mkiv's but the Conti sport 2's ive got on the rear at the moment are superb.
I'll get a price off Ibrar for you tomorrow, see what selection he can get and how cheaply he can do them.

I priced the Falken's up on Camskill as well because that's where I ordered mine from.

I ordered some tyres from Camskill a few weeks ago. I specifically asked for extra load Michelin PS2's and was told the 93 rating was extra load. The delivery note and invoice confirmed my order but they delivered 89 rating PS1's. Mailed them back but didn't get a response.

Thanks guys, some useful opinions/choices to mull over there.
Might see if Kev's uncle can get me some prices when Kev is around in a few weeks, was looking at around £150 max per wheel, fitted & balanced so I don't think the Conti's or Michellin's would come in at that sort of price. My main issue is that Chris Wilson's suspension set up on my car wears the inner tyre, this is not a fault but a factor of the set up and I'm happy to except the trade off of the uneven tyre wear for the added performance in handling. Basically, my Toyo's offered a good trade off of quality against price so the Toyo mail order suggestion is one option I'm considering. I don't know the details as to why Chris Wilson advised against the Heavy Load tyres, I just asked him the question "are they suitable for a Supra"? and his reply was something along the lines of "leave them alone thay are not suitable for a Supra, don't get involved with them". My guess is along the lines of what Matt (AK) said, the increased hardness or strength of the tyre wall somehow is not ideally suited. Dunk: Thanks re: Ibrar, as always your help is much appreciated. Oh, just re-read Mo's reply regarding Camskill, they don't sound like the sort of company I want to deal with tbh.
