I'm seriously suggesting that we should have a paddling pool. And a large one at that.
It'd be great to keep the beers cold and if it's a warm day I'd would be great to bask in it in my speedos.

Wow, so many ideas.
Re: Tug-o-war you should have met big John who was with us the first year. If we'd have him and Baz on the team with a few others we'd have done pretty well for sure

Somewhere near our gazebo we should have a clearly signed "Club Information" area. That would give interested passers by a focus of somewhere to go on our stand to get information about the club. We could then nominate a member to be on reception duty for a couple of hours each to give our information regarding the club and just generally chat to those who seek information.

I was going to suggest exactly that.
Whether it's name badges, t-shirts with names on, hats with names on .... whatever Great idea. Here's an example of why this is good... I organise a marathon every year and traditionally at running races your race number just has exactly that on it, just your race number. Well this year we did something different. We put people names under there race number. So almost everyone at the race had a race number on their vest with their name underneath. It really made a difference. People where able to approach people in the knowledge they knew that were talking to the right person. Each of us is an ambassador for the club and anything which gets people talking to us and allows us to promote the club is a great thing.

I think for simplicity sake name badges would be easier, I will get everybody's name printed up who is going to JAE and if they would like to wear the badge they can do, I can also make up new ones for any newbies that join our stand.
I will also be organising another round of club clothing to include fleeces and jackets (possibly hats as well) and will be bringing these to JAE for the members to see (purchase if available in their size) I also have a few other little bits up my sleeve.... more will be revealed closer to JAE |
