Default Supra is at Hyper sr for single turbo

As title i have sent my pj off to paul at Hyper sports and racing the other week, after all the bad press they had from another member which chris had done on him which was not for light reading but that was chris not paul the mechanic who has now taken over the company.I have spoken to paul long and hard before i decided to go ahead with the single upgrade i wanted to get around 600 bhp with a very good torque figure to match so went with

GT 4088r dbb
costom manifold
44mm external wastegate Tial
hks fuel rail
800cc injectors
hks 1.6mm headgasket
valve stem seals
head skimmed
valves cut back
fuel pressure regulator
arp head bolts
afr guage

When the head was removed paul has had a good look at all the pistons, rings and bores and they are perfect they even have the original crosshatching on them from factory so bottom end is good for the power, i know the auto box is not going to last to long at this power but when it goes i will put the 6 speed in and then its nearly finished will keep you all updated and send pictures when it back if anybody is interested in a kit then let me know and i can get a deal on them thats only the turbo, manifold, wastegate, intercooler pipe, oil feeds, down pipe

I'm sure you have the best wishes of everyone here at MSOC on a superb finished job, it's always a daunting task handing over your pride and joy for work to be carried out, especially something like this. Sounds like you have done your homework so fingers crossed all is well.

Keep us updated on progress and any pics along the way.

Well IIRC I think you have been waiting a little while to do this, so I hope it all goes well and that your research and planning results in a smooth conversion.

Bit curious as to this modification though?

Well i'm guessing the reason the head is coming off is because you have some smoke on startup, so hence you are having the stem seals done.

If this is the only reason for the head to come off, then as long as it's not warped out of limits then it shouldn't be skimmed and can go back on with a stock gasket (which is a good quality part).

If you skim the head and fit too thick a head gasket, you will be lowering the compression ratio which will have a knock on effect of slower spool but ultimately you may be able to run higher boost.

So as you can see, just curious about the decision making process for choosing a 2.0mm gasket and skimming the head, as they have alot of knock on effects.

Arn't GT 4088r's becoming well-known for breaking rather quickly?

How many miles has the motor done Adam ? just wondering why you havent got a new oil pump on your list, also i dont see how you can check the bottom end properly without removing the block and stripping it down to see the shells and pop a piston out to see the rings.

Also i dont see why your skimming the head unless its warped, overhead cam head wont last long if its warped much even after a head skim as the cams are no longer in line with its journals.

Sounds a bit shortcut to me m8 but good luck
