Default Fcd

Hi guiys i am getting to the point where i will have the first cat removed in the next week or so to complete my double de-cat im just waiting on a gasket from mr T,i have the greddy FCD ready to go in and kev.o kindly found me a "how too" guide,i have a question about it though it says the white wire to the throttle position sensor is wired in away from the ECU to the black and yellow striped wire.i take this as meaning the wire coming from my ecu is black and yellow striped and i cut it say 5cm from the ecu plug and join the white wire from my greddy FCD to the end running into the cars loom not the wire into the ecu!

also it says about adjusting this unit on a multimeter although martin had said that the newer ones may not require adjustment what are the opinions of you guys?
kev.o's guide is below for reference!

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/bcc...nstall/bcc.htm

thanks

You have it correct. Cut the black\yellow wire at a convenient point and connect your Greddy FCD inline. The white wire will connect to the loom side of the wire you cut and the green wire will connect to the ECU side of the wire that you cut.

BTW....it's Turbo Pressure Sensor

As for setting up the FCD, did you order one specific for a MKIV Supra or is it a generic one?

If it was me fitting it, it doesn't take me a few minutes to check to see if it's been set properly. But as I said i'm pretty sure I read somewhere that new ones are already set from production.

HAHA excuse my ignornace martin thought about that for a while and that was the best that i coulod come up with throttle position senser
anyway...i bought the unit from paull whiffin he sdvised that there wasnt now a supra specific one to his knowledge and that the unit commonly used for supras was from the SW20 MR2 my FCD box doesnt seem to open up to get to the adjustment screw that article speaks of.... so it must be preset ??
martin can you just tell if the units set right if you were fitting it from the wy the car acts on full boost? how do you tell personally....thanks for the tips

Is yours one of these?

http://mkiv.com/tmp/new_bcc/

I've just found some original information from when this one was relased (2003) and it says that the MKIV specific version was deleted and that the SW20 version should work.

I would suggest in this case just fitting it and seeing how you go, as it doesn't look like it's meant to be adjusted apart from in the factory.

right i put the restrictor ring in today ,inbetween the 2nd decat and the rest of the system as recommended by CW! then went about wiring in my fcd! this was fairly straight forward thanks to the "how to " from kev.o thanks mate...

I disconnected the negative battery lead to wire in the FCD it was off for about half an hour! would this have reset the ECU?

i went for a drive in the car when it was all back together and for the first 10 mins it drove a bit jolty and the boost twice went to 1.0 bar ???? it had never boosted this high before! thenafter ten mins and driving on full boost it went back to a peak of 0.8 bar.

i put the 1.0 bar down to the ECU maybe re-learning! as i hadnt altered anything from before to increase the boost only added my 1.0 bar RR and this wouldnt have been a concern as it boosted to only 0.8 before! and the fuel cut wouldnt have changed anything would it ? as it isnt above the fuewl cutoff anyway!

what do we think guys? the first decat is being fitted oin the 25th apr!

All sounds good to me.

The ECU will definitely have reset, it only needs to be disconnected for a few mins to do this.

As for the 1.0bar vs 0.8bar that may be due to slightly different load on the car. To put maximum load on the car the way I usually do it is to have my foot flat to the floor in a high gear going up a slight hill of some sort.

Either way, I wouldn't worry about that difference in boost level at this stage. When you have both CATs out then see what you have.

I went out to have a play with the boosting levels last night ,it was a bit brisk and the local duel carriageway to me has a slight hill on it so in 5th then 6th foot to the floor the boost picks up on 2nd tubbie and it boosts to 0.8 - 0.9 bar then creeps up to 1.0bar as the speed increases! it never goes over 1.0 bar so i dont think its a drama ,just that it hadnt gone this high before ! wondered if something bad had happened in fitting the fcd haha, thanks martin ill like you say have to see next weekend when all the cats are off!
