As some of you may or not know I have been sorting out an insurance quote for my Supra through the club insurers, Livingstones. I'm pleased to say that I have now finalised and accepted the policy, as promised here are the details below.

Would like to just thank Martin and Emma for sorting out the scheme and in particular Martin, who helped out with a few querys along the way.

Cherished car policy with agreed value of ?13,000, limited mileage of 3,000 per year. All mods covered on a like for like basis. ?250 excess. Legal expences included. Total cost ?453.00

My renewal from my old insurance company Bell Direct was ?327, but this was a standard car policy with limited mileage. So the cost has gone up but in my opinion the benefits far outweigh the extra cost.

Don't know about you Barney but my insurance with elephant is only 10 months. If this is the case with you then it really is a good deal!

The like for like on the mods is good along with the agreed value but it seems expensive seeing as your only going to be driving it for 3000 miles or less per year an average car mileage is over 3 times that, so 3 times ?453 for an average year would be ?1359

Sorry Barney not trying to do a downer on you but seems to me the ins comp is getting the deal as your only going to be on the rd for a third or less of usual use !!!

Just my 2p's worth.

No problem, I hear what your saying Dunk, but this is my way of thinking:

Car written off with old policy (?327) = payout of book price which is around ?5,000-?7,000 at best? plus a lot of grief.

Car written off with new policy (?453) = payout of ?13,000, with hopefully little or no grief.

Plus my mods are covered like for like which they weren't with the old policy.

Whatever insurance company I go with they will always be onto a good thing as I will still only cover the same mileage per year.

Hi Barney

totally agree with the written off situation m8 as your much better off.

these ins comps hav got us by the balls though still havent they

did they do a higher limited mileage policy say 8000 miles p year
be interesting to see what that would have been ?

Dunk, I didn't ask them regarding higher limited mileages, but I would guess they do, although the premium may rise accordingly (don't they always?)

Insurance company's = licence to print money

Sadly, car insurance is a necessary evil

Sorry if this seems but how would the insurance company know if you had exceeded your allowed miles per year, do they check when a claim is made........
