Had a quick look today and your not going to get a seat belt eye in the gap between the seat and tunnel. So def needs a mount welding to the tunnel,

I wouldnt fit the shoulder strap ends to the seat mounts, if i read that right thats really not a great idea.

If you really want to have a harness in the car and if you have to have a rear seat then maybe a cross brace behind the rear seat could be fitted, you could use that but it would virtually be a half roll cage.

Or have a plate welded in the boot floor for the shoulder straps and only use with rear seat folded down.

Too much hassel unless your doing a few trackdays seriously imo

I'm sure one of the American traders manufactured something like this a few years back.

i have too seen the lower floor brace bars i think do-luck manufactured something similar...when speaking to paul whiffin about the harness , i took it that you could use the mounting points of the rear seat belts for the shoulder straps and then the point where the seat belt mounts on the right of the drivers seat on the chassis would be for the right hand side lap strap then a plate would be bolted to the tunnel for the ledt hand strap ooor bolt the left hand lap strap to the rear seat frame mounting point which is on the tunnel not the two on the floor with the eyebolt, my harness is the clip over sort so it can easily come out too.....any thoughts?

Wont you have to remove the rear seat base to get at the belt mounts.

Agree with all youve said on the mounting points but a bit of investigation req on the tunnel mount

thanks dunk had a quick email to chris wilson too,he then rang back and i discussed all of the mounting points that i had said about in the previous thread he said that he would use the centre belt fixing on the rear seat to fix both of the shoulder straps and thred them through the seat foam before clipping them onto the eyebolt.the o.e fixing on the b pillar area for the right side lap strap and he said that the bolt i suggested in the rear seat base would be fine as it mounted to the tunnel and these were re-inforced because the seat frame takes the left lap strap on an oem seatbelt hence the frame being bolted on with 3 bolts i guess. he also advised that the shoulder straps should go downwards from the shoulder area incase the car rolls over the driver wouldnt then be faced with there head on the roof!

Thats good news then if you can refit the back seat when the eyebolts fitted
and yes you definetly need the belts angled downwards which you'll get using the rear seat belt mounts.

Just been to take some pics of my harness mounting points.

Here is the passenger side, it's easier to see as the seat is out.

1. The 1st eyebolt goes into the tunnel, this is the one that needs tapping to 7/16th UNF - check that though. This holds the strap coming over the passengers right lap.

2. Looking into rear behind passenger seat. Both shoulder straps are mounted onto original rear seatbelt mounting points. The centre one shares both passenger & driver (as the original one did).

3. The strap for the passengers left lap comes from the original front seatbelt lower mounting point.

Here's a couple of pics of the drivers side, the first one shows the one going into the tunnel. The other is the other side for the front.

PS I got some eyebolts that were a bit longer than the norm due to mine having to go through various brackets for the rear braces
