RE: running Live wire (for amp)from Engine compartment
Hi peoples,
If anyone can assist with this i'd appreciate it.. I've a 94 jspec supra and installing a boot set up, (just having problems with live wire for amp) ive run all wires etc but having real problems getting the main Live wire from the engine compartment (battery) through to the car, does anyone no where the best place is to run the live wire through, or is it a case of making a hole.. any help would be appreciated.. Cheers |

I know of at least one existing hole through the bulkhead near where the steering column goes through. I'm sure there others and you can avoid drilling holes through the bulkhead.

There are also holes either side between the inner wing and outer wings. If you jack up the car and remove the wheel arch liner (either side) and look towards the back of the car you will see the grommet.
On the drivers side the throttle cable already passes through the same grommet.

From inside the footwell: Pull out the matt and pull the carpet right back exposing the ecu cover. Using a torch, look to the top left of the big plastic ecu cover. It's a yellow grommet. You'll need to poke a hole through it somehow, try using a long screwdriver. From inside the engine bay: I'd remove the charcoal canister as it'll make it a little easier. If you have a small hand you can feel the grommet by putting your hand in the hole behind whether the canister was. Make sure you run the RCA leads on the opposite side of the car from the power lead as it could cause interference. If you look at the below picture it'll give you a rough idea of where you need to be looking in the passenger footwell (follow the red and black wires leading to the top left corner):

haha hunt the hole......like kev says the yellow gromits easiest ! if it isnt stripped out try straightening out a wire coat hanger and poking the wire through taped to it easier to thread! avoid the steering rack gromit as this might rub through the sleeving!! good luck

i would reccommend the infinity kappas or reference i have these front and rear and there great the 5012i ones ,the rears are worth changing because the foam disintigrates on the cone surround so i doubt they will be all in one bit now anyway.for reference theres a website i use alot called just kenwood.com they do trade price on all stereo equipment from kenwood and they offer free delivery! wel worth it !
