Rear speaker install problem

Hi

I fitted these speakers to my car last week

Problem i have is that i could only screw one of the screws to hold the speaker in place because the holes on the speaker dont line up with the ones on the metal plate.

Im getting a lot of rattle where the speakers arnt securely screwed in.

Has anyone else had this problem. Is there some sort of adaptor i can buy.

hi,
u can get around this problem by making an adaptor plate.

the plate will need ur existing hole positions and some for the new speakers.
screw the adaptor plate to the old positions and then screw new speakers on. dont forget to dynamat all the speakers in.

Im no good at making things like that can you not buy em !! What is dynamat and is it needed im not going to be playing loud pumping music

i would highly advise fitting dynamat what ever mush u are going to play....reduces distortion and buzzing off ur door cards etc.

how about this for an idea? u can re-drill holes in either the door panel or the speaker brackets???

i personally wouldnt do it, but its one way of doing it.....

also u could buy speakers that fit?

? infinity kappa 6" fit perfectly into the door panels. lovely sound as well.

might be worth cutting ur losses and replacing ur speakers with the infinaty ones;-

Adaptor can be easily made with MDF but I'm supprised on your choice of coaxial speakers opposed to a Component System similar to those fitted as standard (which are available at similar costs).

I didnt actually but mine from that site. I got them for 30 quid im not really fussed about the audio just the standard speakers were bust. I didnt realise the rear had a componet speakers !!

Didn't read topic title, just posts.....

Yes, coaxials in the rear.

However, as said, adaptor can be made from MDF quite easily and, to quote Baz, dynamat would be a good idea.

Ive just redrilled some holes and everything is a ok now looking for some cheapies for the front now

clear silicone sealant, its the new screws and nails! even holds my 8 foot long heavy wooden blinds up in my living room.
