Question from an idiot.
Is it common for people to come over all precious with their supra when they're selling it? The reason I ask is that I viewed a supra yesterday and liking what I saw I offered him ?500 less than his asking price, mainly because I was paying in cash. I have to say I was amazed when he responded by saying 'This is a performance car, we don't do deals on cars like this sir.' I just said 'look, it's a supra not a ferrari and there are plenty of them around so they don't sell themselves.' That ended the conversation as I walked. What I want to know is, have I made some horrendous faux pas? Is bartering not the done thing with a supra? I'm used to never paying full price for any car so perhaps I have the blinkers on. I'd appreciate any advice. |

Hi,
I would say it is quite normal practice to offer less than the asking price, we did with our car. I don't see why a Supra should be any different. |

It's normal practice to offer less just like any car you would buy.
Only time i'd be wary is on a UK spec car especially if its a manual. UK spec manual cars can be sold within hours of being advertised, so if the seller knows how rare that example is they will hold on for their desired price. If they don't know how rare they are then you may get a bargain

I had to pay asking price (which was a good price anyway imo) for my UK TT yesterday. He (dealer) wouldn't budge, I think it was the milage that he was resting on. I managed to get a full tank of super, a proper sized car cover and 6months road tax out of him though so that made me feel a bit better, just lol.
With imports you should have more luck because theres so many to choose from unless your very choosy on colour, trim etc...
