Next job to tackle was to remove the inlet runners, I managed to do this un-aided

It's nothing too difficult just need to make sure you remove all the bolts before trying to remove anything. I recall a few bolts that were a little hard to get. One in particular that was between two of the inlet runners. I kept hitting my hand everytine I turned the dam ratchet. Still two hours and this was sat on my garage floor

I think it's only when you do this job that you begin to appreciate why Toyota quote 12hrs to replace the turbos.

IIRC i think we managed to remove Chris's turbos in about 6 or 7hrs, but that's two of us and i'd done it before. Also think we only came across one barsteward bolt.

At least you haven't got to put them back on

As we needed to get under the car a fair bit I found it easier to jack it up and put int on axle stands. This did make our lives easier however this also raised the working height which meant by the time I spent an hour leaning into the bau my calf muscles were really hurting

What had to be done next was the stripping of the ancillary parts off the block. This wasn't difficult and never took too much time. I also released as many bolts that was holding the engine in place and connecting it to the gearbox as possible, then waited for an evening that my uncle had free to help me crane the engine out.

I know this isn't a detailed write up but I just wanted to give people an idea of the sort of time scale it has taken me so far. The reason I never took too many pictures as I went was because I was hoping I would take one part off and that would be it, ie the head. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine removing the engine.

I'll try and take some more detailed pictures once I start to put the car back together again.

I know the bolt you are on about aswell. I heard about it before I started and was dreeding it. Gary however was alot more confident, until he realised why his was so easy (Auto)
