John, that 'quote me happy' co. are a pile of horse s**t. I swapped from them a few years ago as they completely took the p*ss when I moved house. I parked in an enclosed field behind my house and they classed it as a public car park & whacked up my premium a few hundered for the year.
They're quite clearly full of PR ballbag talk. My advice - stick to the specialists.

just phoned livingstones for a quote, once again no agreed value for a import. heres a new one though they say you have to have held a license for a minimum of three years (im about three & half months off that!. & there kicking up a fuss about my perfomance car record (renualt megane coupe not recognised, thought it would be as its a 2dr injection)
otherwise its admiral at ?858 fully comp! (dont worry martin ill watch out for coffin dodgers at junctions) on a good point they have tried to be as helpful as possible & rang back when they were suppost to, now waiting for a quote though will keep you posted. |

Quote:
All they are asking for is some performance car experience (i'm sure we all agree a Megane would not be classed as a performance car in any stretch of the imagination) and an indication of driving experience, ie. how long licence held and age. Whilst the age thing can often be a bit of a stickler they have to minimise their risk somehow if not they would be out of business and not able to offer any benefits to anybody. Gaz, shame this one didn't work out for you but there are other companies that will probably be able to help you in the first year, but try Livingstones again for your second year. As for Admiral, you would have to go through the same $hit i had to if your car was stolen. Only so much you can do to avoid that. Due to my experience I'd rather insure with a company that will try to work with me and at least listen to me rather than tell me if i don't like it lodge a complaint.

Sometimes you get daft quotes when you tell them your left arm dont wrk due to a motorcycle crash 16yrs ago. Cant wait to give them the mods list as well glad i havent gone single and nitrous

When i bought the sup. the last thing i thought about was insurance , at my age and with the same company for 20 years no prob. WRONG. foned them last minute, was due to collect car that afternoon and they down right refused to insure me on an import. no argument. in a rush my broker managed to get a cover note off them that quote you happy, not really happy at ?850 but its got me going for the last year.
so cant really fault them. but Sarah from Livingstones foned my answer fone today witha a quote, got 2 ring her back, hope she comes through. watch this space

Give them a call Dunk, bit unusual on slow response.
