Default Japanese Disaster Appeal

I'm sure we've all been watching the events in Japan unfold over the last week or so.

Well a fellow bunch of petrol heads have put together a website to make it easy for you to donate and help some of the families devastated by the disaster rebuild their lives.

Here's a copy of the email I received.

Hi,

Just over a week ago an earthquake off the east coast of Japan brough death and destruction to thousands of people. Many more thousands are homeless and will never full recover. The Japanese culture is not to have insurance so thiongs like property insurance we take for granted they do not. Thus these people really have lost everything. Every part of their home, their house, their memories and all their posessions.

A few of us have set up a web page to help raise funds. All we ask you to do is provide a link and promote it to your members and in return we will add you to our list of supporters. So far we have raised over £1000 and we hope to raise much more. Apart from the cost of the shirt itself all the money raised goes to the charities. Even the chap printing them is giving his time and materials for nothing and our accountants are even auditing it for free, so you can be sure all the money gets to where it is needed.

The money is going half to Red Cross and half to local charities. We are working with fellow car club members in Japan to identify the best charities that need our help the most. The link to the website is here:

Already I have received a phone call from the a VERY senior executive of one of the car manufacturers in Japan who found out about this and called to say thank you. Nissan GB are promoting it as well and are helping us raise funds. But we can always do more so as well as your club pages, post it on Facebook, contact your suppliers and talk to others about it.

The symbol of HOPE is a very powerful one so we hope you will buy your T-shirt, wear it with pride, and get more people to do the same.

Thank you
John
