Default How to re-size pictures so that you can upload to the forum.

As there are a few questions about this thought I would make a sticky.

One of the easiest ways I know to resize images in Windows XP is to install the Microsoft Powertoy below.

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

Click on the link above and select the Run option. There may be some prompts you have to follow to install the powertoy but it's fairly self-explanatory.

Once this is installed then right clicking on any image in a folder will show an option to re-size the image.

The forum file size limit for uploaded pics is 100k, so make sure once your image is re-sized it is below this.

It's one of the Microsoft add-ons that's damn handy and works easily.

I used to use this PowerToy on XP for doing this and it works well. These days though, since I got my new PC, I've been simply uploading the huge pictures to PhotoBucket and it automatically resizes down to 800x600 because I've set my albums up to set that as the maximum size. Image resizer is not available for Vista which is why I cannot use it any more. I've yet to find out how to resize images in Vista but I'm sure there is a way.

Downside of this is that uploading pictures is slow because you have to upload the whole huge image and then the website shrinks it. But it's a great option for doing just a few images.
