Have a look at this thread. It shows you what I done with my front speakers. If you do upgrade the rears which I'd rercommend they are really easy to fit:

Ive tried locating the grommit but to no avail on the passenger side. from the engine bay i have un bolted the canister and there is nothing behind there, is the TT different from the N/A. it looks like wires pass down into the wing.. Im waiting for some pictures to come through from my mobile to my email address then i will upload them.. I have found though on the Drivers side a grommit which when taken off from the body gains access to the cockpit, again waiting for this picture to get though and will post shortly..without the agro of disconnectiong some wires.. think ill go for that one, just have to use some cable ties as it is very open just above the sterring column.

When you remove the canister, there is a hole that goes into the wing. If you can get your hand in there you'll be able to feel the grommet. If not try using a mirror, either the wifes make up mirror or even your own if you're into that kind of thing

Happy to have helped out. I've heard some good things about the Infinity speakers. I was going to get some myself but ended up splashing out on the Focals.
