What's the story with the autobox fluid?

will I need to top mine up considering my rad and Engine have been out?

Auto box fluid goes through the bottom of the rad and cooled. Removing the stock rad causes some automatic transmission fluid to run out of the rad. But if you have had the engine out aswell I would have thought who ever put the engine back in would have changed all the fluids to the engine.

Get the engine good and warm then park on level ground and with the engine still running check the auto box fluid level.

I've finally got round to examining my radiator as I didn't have time last night due to going out for a huge curry. I didn't drive the car today I played it safe and rode my mountain bike instead.

I idled the car long enough to heat the water up and then took the following pictures. I couldn't see any drips from the front as I could on Monday morning but there ample evidence of problems. The battery tray is covered with coolant as is the air filter and ducting (which I know was completely clean a few months ago because I fitted it then)

There is coolant around the whole of the top tank of the radiator where the radiator core is rolled over it. And inside No. 1 Fan Shroud there is much evidence of coolant being thrown on to it.

All in all it's definitely time to get the spanners out and put a new radiator in. At the same time I'm going to change the auto transmission fluid and also put some exhaust paste on my 1st decat whilst the car is up on axle stands.

To that end I spent this evening carefully packing away all the suspension components I had lying around and I've cleared the decks ready for the work to start. Clearly during this whole process an awful lot of stuff which I can't normally get to is going to get cleaned. I can't wait.

And here's a little more evidence. Watch carefully and you'll see some lovely wisps of steam rising gentle from my knackered radiator.

Bit of a bummer Matt, new radiator huh that's money that could of been spent on an active spoiler .
Glad to see you're using it as an excuse to do even more detailing.
