It's hard to make out the snorkel on your picture Cass, but I can't see why the previous owner would have fitted it as without the scoop it wouldn't have done anything!
I haven't had to mod anything under my engine bay Cass.

I don't have this snorkel. Now the scoop is beginning to make sense.....
If I had known I'd have bought it at the same time I did the scoop.
Why isn't it listed in the scoop install how to?

Anyone know the part number?

It's ok I found it.

Without the lower piece in the pictures the bonnet scoop wont do what it was intended for although as ive said ive removed the underneath part that directs the air into this duct with no problems.

Wasnt it to aid cooling on high speed runs and hence j specs didnt have them due to being limited to sub 120mph ?

hehe i thought it was because the no 4 cylinder got hotter on the uk car as it boosted higher thats where the snorkel concentrates they found this on prolonged tests they done before release at toyota hmmm

I thought it was to keep the rear cylinders cooler when the car was on roads like the autobahn, hence why they are fitted to euro spec cars.

I think you're all pretty much saying the same thing. It was added because cracking was found around cylinders 4&5 on pro-longed high speed runs, i.e. Autobahn.

I'm sure i've seen some Jap spec cars with the snorkel, but could be wrong. The snorkel alone is not going to do much without the exterior scoop, but I guess the exterior scoop is still going to do some cooling without the snorkel.
