AFAIK they a pipe connected to an external wastegate. Instead of the wastegate bypassing the turbo and going into the exhaust (as it does on standard turbos with an internal wastegate), the wastegate vents to the atmosphere via a pipe.
I believe they are called screamer pipes because they are somewhat loud.

yeah I run one on my car and LOVE it...it`s personal taste as some people run them back into the exhaust for a quieter setup.

I'm stunned again. I gave a technical description and I think I may have got it right. Amazing.

ok so, i screamer pipe just bypasses what ever you want on the exhaust system on the account of the location of it... so basically from the down pipe lol..
but how does the supra do without the back pressure from te exhausts?? also does it make the car unbody extremely hot??

Errrr you need to read Flynn's post again.
It's the output from the external wastegate which is then not fed back into the exhaust but out to the atmosphere through one of these 'screamer pipes'. Back pressure in a turbo car is bad, you don't want any of it. Depends where the output from your pipe is depends on how hot the underbody is, but generally the movement of the car will draw the gasses and heat away.
