This is really good news Jason, thanks for pursuing this.
Can members who are part way through their policy with you add this option on, or will they need to wait until renewal where you can change their provider? Just to remind members of Livingstones contact details: Tel: 01935 706258 http://www.lwib.co.uk/schemes/quote....pe=performance Don't forget Livingstones can also provide trackday insurance where the track day is recognised by the club and properly organised (i.e. not you and your mates turning up at the local air strip!)

Hello Martin and everyone,
Thsi is a new insurer as the current carriers (either NIG or Britt) are both exiting motor insurance in total! So we can not add mid term only at the renewal or new business when we will change to the new company. Also the track day cover is ending too, I am very sorry to announce. Simply too many claims and the price of it would go up so high it is not marketable. Insurance is in a mess, folks. Unless things are altered there will be insurers going pop, I jest not! Just today I had a case told to me where an insured reversed into a coach. the car weighed a ton the coach one heck of a lot more. The insurer has got 22 people claiming for whip lash on the coach. Anyway you guys don't want to know the woes of the insurance world, just that we can still offer the great rates we had and agreed value for the JDM's as well as on UK vehicles too. I hope to have the new facility up and running by next week, so there will be no impact on renewals. All the best to you all. Keep those enquiries coming. Jason

Sorry TopGunTT,
To be frank, we were panicking we had lost that facility forever. The loss of both our insurer supporters (Britt in April this year and NIG this month) was a great blow to us, but the insurance industry is losing a lot of money and many companies are having to take drastic action to stem losses even, like these two, to actually exit motor insurance in total! We can look at cancelling your current polciy (at preferetial rates I add) and repalcing with the new insurer if that is of service to you? Just call Michelle and mention this post (I will let her know in case you call). Best to you all. Jason

A query on insurance
Hi All,
Is it possible to ask you all a technical question on your household insurance? Sorry to steal this thread (Martin maybe I should start another if that's preferred?), but I need a bit of market research on covers in household insurance you all might have. It is my understanding that most companies exclude car parts and accessories, in their wording on the home insurance front. But, I am not sure as I have had some claims go through and some not. We have had some requests to increase cover to include these bits, which we all have in the garage, don't we, and it has proved to be difficult to get an insurer to include them. So my question is, would you mind looking at your cover and seeing if your company would or wouldn't cover the theft of those extra "spare" Turbo’s ECU's, intercoolers, rear spoilers....... if they were stolen from the garage... It would help me with my research for us here at Livingstones. Sorry if I have not posted in the correct area.... Best to you all, Jason

Without reading my policy i know mine covers items in the garage/shed for individual items of upto £1000 per item but cant remember if the cap was low ie £10k.
I ask for this specifically. This also covers such items away from home (ie bike, tent).

Thanks for the reply and so swiftly. Do me a favour and check the exclusions for me please.
This is the kicker as the policies I have looked at say things are covered, but the polciy small print excludes motor parts and accessories! So yes you do have the cover for items in your garage with a single article limit of 1000 etc but car parts are specifically excluded! Doh! And that's the problem I am trying to establish. I am hoping to get an endoresement that specifically includes car parts and can be adjusted to whatever figure you need covered BUT when checking with a few friends who are enthuisasts, they thought they were covered too, but whjen they checked the dreaded small print, they did have this exclusion. Before I start blowing my trumpet I wanted to check with others to see if this exclusion is out there generally or it is just the small straw pole that I have been able to look at myself. Thanks again for the help on this. Jason

No problem with posting this here. It's good to hear that you're still with us and not on a holiday at her majesty's request for some outrageous motoring misdemeanour
I'll try and dig out our policy docs at the weekend and have a check.
