Problems with JPS Motorsport
All,
For seven of the eight years I have owned a Supra it has been maintained and modified by Leon Green aka JPS Motorsport in Milton Keynes. On the last occasion I used them for work I was so unhappy with the experience I put the car in my garage, put a cover over the top and left it for the winter. Upon collection of the car it was obvious there was something wrong after driving a few hundred yards. The power steering was light, the throttle was unresponsive, the gear stick wobbled alarmingly and the car was very noisy. Also the FJO Wideband was sticking at 14.5 AFR (JPS admitted breaking and attempting repair of the WB gauge shortly after receipt of the car) The battery on the car was flat and unable to sustain charge, I found that out when I stopped for petrol and the car wouldn’t restart. (I was unable to exercise the 4 year warranty on the battery as it had been switched from the original) I also noticed that all four parts that make up the battery clamp system were missing, the car had been returned to me with a battery that could move around within the engine bay. Then spring arrived. I took the cover of the car and a friend and I starting to poke around to investigate. The following issues came to light: The two vacuum ports on the underside of Q45 throttle body were left open causing the car to run badly. The vacuum sources for the power steering pump were missing. The nut holding the gear stick to the selector fork had dropped off into the cover below. Gearbox inspection cover No 1 was missing. My clear side indicators and silvered bulbs swapped with amber items - (JPS customer cars are often left accessible by the general public during the day) The following items were not returned with the car: Apexi ITC GReddy Fuel pressure sensor. Vband clamps from PHR 3” down pipe Original Toyota passenger floor mat. PHR stage 3 exhaust housing. In my experience JPS Motorsport have issues with keeping proper customer records. They had failed to keep a proper note of some of the hours they worked on the vehicle, the interim payments I made and at one stage failed to keep me updated with progress as they had no written record of my phone number. I have written to JPS Motorsport on three occasions pointing out the problems with my car and to date I have not received an acknowledgement of my letters or a reply to any of the points raised therein

That's a shocking list of issues. Have you sought legal advice?

That's a real shame to hear Gavin.
Having known you for many years, I know how patient you have been with Leon at various points over the years. It's quite shocking for you to be treated in such a way when you have spent so much money with him over the years If there is anything I can personally do to try and help you re-ignite the Supra spark, please let me know.

That doesnt make good reading and hope you get it sorted Gavin, dont these places realise without us they havent got a business ?
Its a disgrace how some garages whether it be a supposed specialist or franchised dealer treat there customers, im having the same trouble with a Seat dealership and think very soon it will go legal as ive had enough of being taken for a ride and ive only owned it for just over 3 weeks !! i'll be speaking to Seat UK on Monday and see if there as bad or hopefully they'll shock me and do something.

I have had experiences like this with so called "specialist", that's why whenever something needs doing, I entrust the job to the people who take the utmost care and attention to detail with my car they are known as "me and my m8".

i completely agree with gambit ,realy sorry to hear of your peoblems and how frustrating they can be when you just want to get out in the sunshine and enjoy the car,i work near jps in milton keynes and to be honest rang them once regarding a question i had about tein suspension, the "kid" that answered the phone was one of bletchleys finest.......i.e To**er,and in the end i said im sorry ill ring around and hung up,if your travelling down to MK why not go to silverstone garage in silverstone they operate with a company called qsd who specialize in all things supra and there mad about them! never had a bad word to say about the guys or there work.......

Thanks all,
There is more to this story than just the initial part of my post which I will update you with in due course. Hopefully Paul Wiffen will sort out a service and the gear stick problem for me shortly and then the car should be back on the road. It may possible to fix the wideband but I need to get all the bits out of the car first. If it broken it's going to cost me 500 quid or so to replace. GL

Well I nearly have the car back on the road now.
It really has been a effort to motivate myself to sort this thing out...mosy of the time I just wished the car had just vanished. Does anyone have a stock water temp gauge they don't need and I will be able to post up some pictures. :-)
