Stem seals

Mine started smoking right after the final decat (high mileage UK, only fair...)
'seals' I thought, turbo seals most likely.
Then it only did it sometimes, just on startup with no pattern.
'stem seals' I thought, some have gone and it depends on which ones happen to be open as the engine stops
Now it doesn't do it AT ALL, I don't know what to think
Can't complain though, can I?

Wish mine would stop. It's not so bad on start up, worst when the engine is hot. Had it in at a friend of my father in law this morning & I wasn't impressed. I don't think he did a damn thing to the car apart from open the bonnet (I went off into town & had a hair cut). He was rather vague & mentioned the cylinder pressures weren't quite right (actually only one isn't right, checked it myself)
He didn't even ask for payment (bit iffy really for an hours labour)
Anyway my window cleaner recommended a small place in Wareham, so I also went there this morning. They service a couple of supras locally & have replaced the turbos on one so I booked mine in for next Weds. Hopefully they'll not muck me around & be able to competantly get the head off without taking too long about it.
